A two-month journey through the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an senior woman who was left behind by the ship on a distant coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back several hours later after the personnel realised the lady was missing.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the liner left the island after an scheduled excursion without my mum".

In her statement, she characterized her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a walking club.

"According to scant information we have been told, it appears that there was a lapse of responsibility and basic judgment," she stated.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have done that might have protected Her existence".

"Based on information from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mother fell ill on the hill climb," she stated.
