Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were no match against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
